18th Oman International Dental Conference held

The 18th Oman International Dental Conference, organised by the Oman Dental Society, ended on a high note recently with local students and faculty members from the Oman Dental College (ODC) being active participants. Faculty members participated as speakers, creating five out of the ten final presentations.

While ex-ODC students were an integral part of the conference’s organisation committee, faculty members conducted several workshops.

Dr Dayananda Samarawickrama, visiting professor to ODC and Emeritus professor of Conservative Dentistry at Queen Mary University London, delivered two lectures as part of the keynote address to an audience of international dental professionals.

“The quality of this conference is comparable to any of the top international conferences I have attended in the past. ODC’s active scientific and practical participation in the organisation and facilitation of the conference displays the high quality of education its students receive on a daily basis. ODC students projected confidence and competence, and held their own amongst the many professionals in the room,” Dr Samarawickrama said.

Dr Rahul Arora, Dean of Oman Dental College, further added that “ODC was pleased to have supported Oman Dental Society for the conference. We fully support and endorse the continuation of such activities, which are vital to the on-going development of the dental industry for the Omani public.”
